Mother...first drawing...

Look what I dug up. This is the very first drawing I ever did of Mother when I got back to Wildstorm in 2001. I don't think we ever got around to using it. I'm in the process right now of coloring it. Maybe use it in the trade. It is a picture of Mother in the core of the Waering Mainframe (the one she thinks is her long dead mommy) this is right before she dies in there...notice how she is connected to the mainframe...

So does the regular series wrap with #10, you'll not pencil another issue of that..?

...and we'll maybe see you again in a mini?

Whilce, you mentioned you had to learn to draw again after your Diabeties..

How does you work now compare to when this was drawn?

Nice, i like the dreamy look Mother has on her face, as she dreams herself away.

But i have a problem with her left foot, it seems kinda unreal, that she can position her foot in that angle.

I think this sketch should either be on the back cover of the tpb or as a pin up in the back of the tpb.

Whilce,
I am so glad I found a way to contact you again. Duuude. I just heard from Don Hankins last month. Remember him? I am so sorry to hear about the Lupis, and your coma. So much has changed! Odly enough, my mom went back to college and has to write a paper on comic books. She remembered you from 1984 and called me for info. Wow, many updates. You are doing very well. Duh! You have always done amazing work!! Any chance of you coming to Chicago for a show?

What happened to Mother ? When exactly did she die and did it happen on page or was it just something that happened and was never published....I have the entire 43 ish run of the first series as well as the few one-shots that came out as well and dont remember it happenening ??? Maybe I missed something...

Hi Whilce,

I love your work and you're probably sick of hearing that by now from people you don't really know. Anyway, could I make a small request...? Do you think it's possible for you to post a higher resolution of your pencils here once in a while (if that's not too much to ask), because I'd love to try and ink your work again.

Thank you very much.

Hi Whilce

I've been a fan of your artwork since the early Image days, and especially during your run on Iron Man. It's too bad that Heroes Reborn had to end after only one year.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but do you take commissions outside of conventions? Lately i've been trying to get my favorite artists to do a rendition of this L5R character named Matsu Nimuro so that i could post it on this site i recently put together:
lowfierce.com/nimuro

If you're interested in doing a color illustration of that character, please email me with info about your rates and stuff. My email address is "majestros" at "sonichurricane" dot "com"

Thanks! Can't wait to see your work on Batman.

Hi Whilce. I'm a college student taking an Asian American perspective class and I'm writing a research paper on the impact of Filipino artists on American culture. My professor told me that you live in San Diego and I was wondering if I could interview you if you had time?

oops, i forgot to include my e-mail address. If you are able to make time for an interview, please let me know: gladeyes@hellokitty.com. Thank you!

Hi Whilce im Christian Hernandez, just call me Payat :), from Philippine Island, i just recently took the effort to look back on my chilhood and remembered your name in my mind. You were one of the inspiration, though i didn't got the chance to be a comic artist... i've somewhat got on the technical side of drawings(architecture). i was surprised that you had a condition, i really felt bad for it, cause your so good. my best friend and i, during our younger years, once dreamed to have a comic series of our own or a publishing house that will cater to ourselves only cuase at some point can't afford to have comics to buy... the reason im sharing you this is you have been a part in our life... for that i... let me rephrase "WE" thank you for the inspiartion for the filipino youth to be imaginative and not be affraid that Filipinos can do far, by faith we'll achieve a dream much bigger than we imagined... again we thank you... may God shower you more blessing cause you've been a blessing to "us".

NEWS:
It's reported in the newest Lying in the gutters, that Wetworks will end after JM's run, remember LING is not always right and that the column is based on rumors only.

I heard WW is ending from a different source. Whilce now works for DC and DC want him working on something different...

How the worm has turned... Image boys being told what to draw, when and for how long..

Wasn't being sick of that the reason Image was formed in the first place.

It's all but gone now holds 2.5% market share....

nice drawing, I love the expression on her face. I used to check out your stuff back in the day, and it stuck out. Hope everything is good, stop by my blog sometime.

I give up on Whilce. He starts good then he leaves the readers hanging dry again. even this blog he started has been with no response for almost two months now i think.

Yeah i was hoping whilce would update us fans more on the cancellation of wetworks or more questions asked about the past few books that have came out. I keep checking and hoping. The one thing i liked about this blog was that Whilce could communicate with fans here. I hope we get some answers soon.

Great penciling. Are you going to do any video transfer for this? I'd love to see it move.
