NOTES...

I don't know why the thumbnails of the last three pages of the second preface story didn't load? Yet if you click the links they will take you to the full size versions of those pages...hhhhmmmmmm....

Awhile ago I added two links...
Gallery-is a link to a great website that has been up for some time. It holds alot of my comics work. We will be using this site to showcase alot of new art...thanx a million to Rafa and Kyle...we owe you...

Gerry-Is the massive and massively important site of not only a good friend but someone who once was my art director when I had an advertising/Art studio now he has done tons of great comics inking over myself and Lienil Yu and has recently gone back to his first love of publishing great acclaimed indie books the latest of which is "Elmer" an intriging dissertation of human society featuring a sentient rooster. I point out his site because his site holds the Philippine Komix historical gallery holding and honoring the great Pilipino artist of the past who paved the way for us current pinoy artist...we must all remember them that came before us...

Last may I say that this blog is for me a personal trip...therapy. And it is dedicated and for those that are interested in the inner details and processes of "creating" a modern day comic book. At least the way I've been doing it for the last twenty years. So a warning to those that want to enjoy the Wetworks book on its own merits, this blog will take apart bit by bit every aspect of the process and will reveal (as with the last post) all of the many inner details of the story that did not and should not have made it to the final script but are apart of the process that we edited down to create the final version we now are seeing in print...

hey Whilce, I am loving this blog. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I think it's a real eye-opener to fans and non-fans alike into just how much background work goes into creating a concept...any concept and I think its credit to you that Wetworks has the following and longevity that it has, and always seems fresh.

It really amazes me how unique your panel composition is, it struck me firstly back in the first Wetworks series especially when the newly 'grown' Dozer was going into the Vampire enclave, your panel composition is really unique.

It's great to see Wetworks have a secret base, I have a real thing for 'secret bases' I loved the idea of the Pitt in GI Joe, hidden in clear view of everything. Great stuff.

Question: where did the original Wetworks idea come from, was it from a desire to do a military book or a fantasy book for example? Was it always the idea that Dane would fit into the overall plan for Team 7 and the Wildstorm Universe. I have to say the architecture of the Wildstorm Universe is outstanding and really blew me away that all the books were linked via Team 7.

Thanks again for the insights, I really look forward to your updates. Russ

right, you sure didn't stay there long did you,

i was looking forward to hang out with you and draw maybe we can do that at sdcc next year

i'd also like to give a shoutout to "mr.collector" here, i see him at sdcc every year,hiddy-ho there

i'll be visiting ever week here from now on whilce, keep them coming

btw love the batman, he really does look more "bat-manish"

also the relationship between dane and beuller(beuller, beuller, anyone?, couldn't help it)
seems to me like the way lex luthor looks towards superman, an alien intruder bring his enemies with him and making them earth's enemies, just a thought, is that your thought as well?

Hey Whilce, Wetworks #2 was great!!!

I just wanted to know what exactly did Ab-death do to the creature, I was a little confused. Did he break a link between our world and that monster?

And again thanks for bringing Wetworks back.

Zombie,

Yeah it is kinda like the ole days...you really don't know how many years the whole gang at Wildstorm has been waiting for this launch. One of these days I'll tell you about all the different versions of the launch were campaigned thru the studio thru the years...the one centered around a certain IO head was the best...

Damon,

Officially Dane doesn't know exactly what happens when Ab is in that world BUT most popular understandings about things like this is that there are connections (connections of what?) made between our world and other places, and it seems Ab has a way of disconnecting those connections. Seems to...they are not physical connections so cannot be affected in our physical world. In different cultures it is believed that even thoughts can make connections in another plane. Or physical things can have etheral connections to people (clothes, jewelry, places, events, etc.) It is not the physical thing that makes the cnnection it is what that thing meant to the person. And it seems Ab "sees" these connections as figures or monster representations. So it'll be fun to explore all those avenue's. Dane's psi-power might be that catalyst that connects us to Ab's world...hhhmmm

Rafa,

Man you jumped on that one quick!!! Yup Lynch was gonna be the centerpiece to my favorite version of the WU relaunch. He had so many connections to so many of the WU characters...

Hi Wilce! I enjoy your work very much ever since the x-men days. My favourite issue ever was uncanny x-men 286 and it had a very touching story too.

Its great to see the you and other senior artists doing titles on a regular basis now. and eating more I hope!

I'd like to ask which issue will feature that stunning hot pink neon composition thats showcased right now on your "art of " page?

Keep well!

Whilce, are you planning to sometime on the future go back and finish Ulyssess2? The preview art that appeared in a few of the Avalon books was just awesome!
